Pictures of Me

I saw pictures of me
For the first time in years
Reminders of experiences
Reminders of pain
And pleasure in my past

Stirred the cauldron of memory
Foundation of whom I am
Emotions which lay dormant
Bubbled to the surface
Ghosts who haunt my present

Obstacles yet to overcome
Reasons I withdraw into me
Seeking the strength to overcome
Which guided me through those times
The deep breath of salvation

The open heart which allowed me
To learn how to love
After those around me
Used love as an excuse to dominate
To force their will upon me

Instead of accepting with grace
The Divine Spirit which expresses
Uniquely as me
